Health Canada’s view on Whitening kits

The ability to use the term “whitening” on toothpaste labels is permitted by health Canada and the Canadian Dental Association only if the toothpaste is able to remove stain.  All toothpastes are abrasive and remove stains so with this definition all toothpastes can be considered whitening. True whitening of teeth is obtained with the chemical hydrogen peroxide / carbamide peroxide, not included in toothpaste, which are available in the whitening kits at the dental office.
