Researchers grow Teeth from cells

The Orthodontist can benefit greatly from this development
Dentists may one day be able to grow teeth from new ones using gum cells!  Missing teeth is a common problem plaguing orthodontic patients, whether the teeth are congenitally missing or if they have been lost due to trauma, dental caries or periodontal disease.  Although it is some time away from clinical use, this would be a breakthrough development in the orthodontic treatment planning for these patients who sometimes require the placement of dental implants or substitution of other teeth to correct their problem.  Orthodontics at Don Mills will continue to follow this exciting research and keep you well informed.
